A pneumatic knife gate valve has two sealing surfaces. In commonly used wedge-type gate valves, the two sealing surfaces form a wedge shape; the wedge angle is adjusted according to the valve’s specifications to optimize the sealing performance. Typically, this angle is 50 degrees. Alternatively, the gate can be designed with a slight degree of flexibility to enhance its manufacturability and compensate for any angular deviations that may occur during machining. Such a gate is referred to as an elastic gate.

The closing member of a pneumatic knife gate valve is a gate plate. The direction of movement of the gate plate is perpendicular to the flow direction of the fluid. Manual knife gate valves can only be fully opened or fully closed and cannot be used for throttling or regulation. A pneumatic knife gate valve has two sealing surfaces; in commonly used wedge-type gate valves, these two sealing surfaces form a wedge shape, and the wedge angle is adjusted according to the valve’s specifications to optimize the sealing performance.
Typically, the gate is designed with a thickness of 50. It can also be made into a gate capable of producing slight deformation to improve its manufacturability and compensate for any angular deviations that may occur on the sealing surfaces during machining. Such a gate is referred to as an elastic gate. In a pneumatic knife-gate valve, when closed, the sealing surfaces rely solely on the pressure of the medium to achieve sealing—specifically, the medium pressure pushes the sealing surface of the gate against the valve seat on the opposite side, thereby ensuring the sealing performance of the sealing surfaces.
The corrosion resistance of knife gate valves in acidic environments depends on the materials used in their manufacture. The corrosion resistance of knife gate valve materials refers to their ability to withstand degradation caused by exposure to air, water, acids, salts, or other chemical environments. Corrosion resistance is particularly critical; aside from employing various coating or surface treatment techniques, the fundamental approach remains to improve the properties of the steel itself.
