When a gate valve is closed, the sealing surfaces rely solely on the pressure of the medium to achieve a seal—specifically, the sealing surface of the gate is pressed against the valve seat on the opposite side by the medium’s pressure, thereby ensuring a tight seal. This type of sealing is known as self-sealing. By contrast, most gate valves employ forced sealing: when the valve is closed, an external force is used to press the gate against the valve seat, guaranteeing the sealing performance of the sealing surfaces. Such valves should be installed vertically in the pipeline.
Performance
1. The valve can be locally and remotely controlled according to user requirements, and can also provide remote and centralized display.
2. Lightweight: The valve body is made of carbon steel, making it approximately 20%–30% lighter than conventional gate valves, which facilitates installation and maintenance.
3. Using this type of valve can enhance the sealing performance of pipeline systems, minimizing leaks to the greatest extent possible, thereby playing a positive role in improving production efficiency and protecting the environment.
4. The sealing surface is designed with a highly wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant ceramic composite material, using an inlaid technology. The fully lined polyurethane knife gate valve gets its name from the fact that its valve cavity is completely lined with polyurethane.
1. Polyurethane (PU) primarily exhibits excellent properties such as oil resistance, wear resistance, low-temperature resistance, aging resistance, high hardness, superior elasticity, and good anti-toxicity performance. It is commonly used in pipelines conveying high-hardness particles as well as media containing gases and liquids. PU boasts excellent sealing performance and demonstrates high strength and wear resistance. Polyurethane is often referred to as "wear-resistant rubber," and its oil resistance is no less than that of nitrile rubber, being comparable to that of polysulfide rubber.
2. The all-polyurethane-lined knife gate valve features a two-piece valve body combined with an integrated polyurethane sleeve assembly. Thanks to the all-polyurethane lining, the valve’s internal cavity directly prevents direct contact between the medium and the valve body itself, significantly enhancing the valve’s overall wear resistance and sealing performance. This valve is particularly well-suited for harsh operating conditions—such as pipelines—that demand both high sealing performance and resistance to intense media erosion.
3. All components of the valve, including the polyurethane, are assembled as independent modular units, facilitating easy maintenance and replacement services in the future. This maximizes the valve’s service life and value.
4. The polyurethane sleeve is equipped with three scraper blades and four self-sealing grooves, which can greatly ensure the cleanliness of the gate plate, the sealing performance of the middle section, and the service life of the valve during operation.
5. The bottom of the polyurethane sleeve is equipped with a V-shaped groove. In addition to ensuring its bidirectional sealing performance, the V-shaped groove design effectively prevents safety hazards such as media jamming in the groove.
